The colorfully named retrospective I Wouldn't Piss on It If It Was on Fire collects some of Fire Records' most memorable acts and singles, including Pulp's suave "My Legendary Girlfriend," Spacemen 3's transcendent "Walkin' With Jesus," the melancholy pop of Teenage Fanclub's "God Knows It's True," and the Pastels' "Train Truck Tractor." The Perfect Disaster, which featured the Breeders' Josephine Wiggs, contributes "Hey Now!," while Anastasia Screamed, which included future Scarce leader Chick Graning among their ranks, turns in "Notown." The Blue Aeroplanes' "Ups," the Mega City 4's "Android Dreams" and tracks from Leatherface, the Walkingseeds, Everclear, and HP Zinker & Evan Dando are some of the other highlights from this enjoyable time capsule of British and American indie acts from the late 80s and early 90s. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
