    Release notes:
When the Grateful Dead descended on Egypt’s Nile Valley in 1978 to perform 3 landmark concerts at the foot of the Great Pyramid in Giza, legendary promoter Bill Graham called it, "one of the greatest experiences of my life." Counterculture icon and author Ken Kesey described it as "the latest Rocking of the Cradle of Civilization." The day after the last of the trio of shows, which took place during a rare lunar eclipse, the Egypt-Israeli Peace Treaty was signed.

    * 2-CD/1-DVD set celebrates 30th anniversary of the Dead’s historic concerts at Giza.

    * Now remastered in HDCD, original 24-track audio tapes were recorded September 15-16, 1978 at the Gizah Sound and Light Theater.

    * Concerts took place shortly before the band released Shakedown Street, and feature the lineup of: Jerry Garcia (guitar, vocals), Donna Jean Godchaux (vocals), Keith Godchaux (keyboards), Mickey Hart (drums), Bill Kreutzmann (drums), Phil Lesh (electric bass, vocals), and Bob Weir (rhythm guitar, vocals).

    * 2 CDs feature 18 tracks totaling over 3 hours of music—all but 3 tracks are previously unreleased.

    * Plus, epic live takes on "Deal," "Truckin'," "Stella Blue," "I Need A Miracle," "Stagger Lee," and "Fire On The Mountain."

    * DVD presents over 100 minutes of filmed content, including 13 songs from the third (and final) Egypt show, which occurred during a rare lunar eclipse.

    * DVD also includes the featurette "The Vacation Tapes," with previously unseen candid footage of the band and thier noted friends exploring Egypt.

    * DVD features PCM Stereo and DTS 5.1 mixes.

    * Set comes in super-deluxe digi package with "pop-up" style Pyramids and Sphinx inside.
